    Singer, songwriter, blues guitarist extraordinaire, and, according to Howard Armstrong, "the foulest-mouthed woman I ever met", Minnie was born Lizzie Douglas somewhere in Louisiana in 1897. By the time she was in her teens, she was singing on the streets in Memphis. She moved to Chicago in the early 30s, and was well known among blues musicians there until her retirement in the mid-50s.
