A truly amazing array of musicians passed through that wooden shed next to the railroad tracks at the Starr Piano factory; all the recordings on this and past tapes that were made in Richmond, Indiana were done in that one room. Originally from Birmingham, Davenport spent most of his life in Chicago, where he was a fixture of the club scene for many years. He was one of the pioneers of the boogie-woogie style, which emerges here and there in this mostly ragtime piece.

    Charles "Cow Cow" Davenport, piano.

    Richmond IN 4/1/29 Champion 15726
