    The musicians of the Free Holiness Pentecostal Church of Corbin, Kentucky, led by their young pastor Ernest Phipps (1900-68), came to the Victor Bristol sessions in 1927 and 1928 to record their intense, exciting singing and playing. The Victor road crew made an extensive trip through the South in the fall of 1928, beginning in Memphis in September, then proceeding to Nashville, Atlanta, and Bristol, and not returning home until the beginning of November. They did it again the following year, skipping Nashville and Bristol, but picking up Dallas and New Orleans,
