Josh White, who never had much use for the South or its racial customs, got out of Greenville, South Carolina at an early age, soon falling in with the New York folk-music intellectuals of the thirties, and eventually becoming one of the seminal figures of the folk music revival of the sixties. This early performance (apologies for the wrecked copy) shows more roots than he was wont to display in later years.
