Little Maggie

  • Little Maggie

Among the biggest country stars of the years just before World War II were the Mainers of Buncombe County, North Carolina. Their radio shows and records were enormous favorites throughout the Southeast, and many of their songs are old-time and bluegrass standards today. Wade, who has lived in Flint, Michigan for many years, still performs occasionally. The late Steve Ledford, a student and ardent admirer of G.B, Grayson, plays this piece almost exactly as his mentor did.

Wade Mainer, vocal, banjo; Zeke Morris, tenor vocal, guitar; Steve Ledford, fiddle,
