George Carter (1869-1948) and his son Jimmie, of Monroe County in northeast Mississippi, were locally famous musicians who traveled to Memphis twice to record. According to Jimmie, they would have been more successful had George not refused to travel without his brother Andrew, who refused to travel at all.

The Carter Brothers and Son: George Carter, vocal, fiddle; Andrew Carter, fiddle; Jimmie Carter, guitar.
