They really were serenaders, playing from house to house around Mineola, Texas. Strictly a local outfit, they seldom ventured farther than Dallas, about a hundred miles away. Left-handed fiddler Dan Williams was a mentor to a younger generation of Western Swing fiddlers, Johnny Gimble among them.
