    Despite his fame as a Western Swing fiddler, Cliff Gross (1898-1956) kept an impressive repertoire of Kentucky fiddle tunes from his early years near Bowling Green. He moved to Texas in 1931, becoming lead fiddler with the Light Crust Doughboys after Bob Wills! departure in 1933, He returned to Kentucky in 1939,. and was one of the stars of Louisville country radio until his retirement in 1953.
