Coo Coo Bird, The

  • The Coo Coo Bird

Thomas Clarence Ashley (1895-1967) of Shouns, Tennessee pretty much owned this song, though every folkie with a five-string has probably tried it at least once. In a career that spanned five decades, Ashley performed with an amazing variety of superstars from G.B. Grayson to Roy Acuff to Doc Watson (whom he discovered), and many of his songs including "Little Sadie" and "House Of The Rising Sun" have become standards.
