    The Victor field unit arrived in Bristol the weekend of July 23-24 with high hopes of discovering marketable country talent, They began recording Monday the 25th with a small contingent brought from Galax by Ernest Stoneman, but by the next day almost nobody else had showed up. Ralph Peer, the session producer, paid a call on the editor of the Bristol News Bulletin, which on Wednesday ran a news feature about the recording session, mentioning in passing that Stoneman had made $3600 the previous year from his records. The next day they were coming in from everywhere, A half-dozen or so from Corbin, Kentucky, including Shelton (1902-63), recorded on Friday,
