Charlie Melvin Stripling (1896-1966) of Kennedy, Alabama, started winning fiddle contests in the 20s; and as one rival put it, "All Charlie Stripling had to do was stick his head in the door and they'd give him first prize." He recorded for the Library Of Congress in the 50s, and kept on winning contests until about 1960, when his arthritis finally slowed him down.

The Stripling Brothers; Charlie Stripling, fiddle; Ira Stripling, guitar.
