Old Ship Of Zion

  • The Old Ship Of Zion

J.T, Allison (1869-1939) of Moody, alabama, and his group must have been hoarse for a week after the Starr Piano Company got through with them. Mere listening isn't quite enough to get the feel of this style; one Alabamian told an interyvewer that he wouldn!t cross the road to listen to shape note music, but would walk a mile in the snow to ding it.

Allison's Sacred Harp Singers: J.T. Allison, J.T, Vaughn, Tom Bradshaw, John Praytor, George T. Allison, vocals.
