    The Hopkins Brothers, originally from Ashe Co NC, moved to Galax around 1920. They all sang, and Al played piano, John ukulele, and Joe guitar. They started a band with fiddler Elvis "Tony" Alderman, later adding Jack Reedy of Marion VA, and the Bowmans from Jonesboro TN. Eventually they moved to Washington DC and toured full-time in vaudeville, breaking up after Al Hopkins' death in a car crash in 1932,
