Rock My Soul

  • Rock My Soul

Thanks almost entirely to the work of singing teacher R.C, Foster from 1915 on, the Jefferson County area of Alabama had become the epicenter of African-American gospel quartet singing by 1930. By the time they recorded, the Heavenly Gospel Singers were living in Detroit, but their Alabama origin shows clearly in their singing style,

Clarence Driskel, baritone vocal; Porterfield Lewis, bass vocal.
