    Born in Mt. Eden, Kentucky in 1904, Cliff Carlisle started out as a Jimmie Rodgers clone, though he was a much better singer and musician himself. He was performing on WLAP in Louisville by 1929, first with Wilbur Ball, and later with his younger brother Bill, heard on last year's tape.
