"Fiddling Bill" Sievers was born in Clinton, Tennessee, just north of Knoxville, in 1875. Together with his son Mack (born 1904) and his daughter Willie (born 1909), he ran a family band that remained local favorites around Knoxville for years, Their driving sound owes a lot to Earl Johnson, who was a close friend and frequent house guest. After Bill's death in 1954, Mack and Willie drifted away from old-time music, and the Ramblers became a Hawaiian band; photos from the 60's show them in leis and aloha shirts. Willie, the last survivor as of a few years ago, spent her later years in a nursing home in Clinton, playing for most of the day —- extremely well —- on the piano in the day room, to the great delight of her fellow patients,
